Survival Hunter Raid Macros Patch 3.22

Sup, All,

I’ve been doing some farming and gearing up of my Hunter to try and get it up to some of the more common gearscores, for most of the raids I’m like dead last in gear score and my DPS on heroic dummy for such a low gear score might now allow you to relate to me. I’m over 4100 now so that’s a bonus, I haven’t retested on a Heroic Dummy in awhile or perfected and shot rotation Macros.

Right now, I’m relearning the Shot Rotation Priority so I have 5-6 buttons macroed that I press individually in a priority order as they become available. Not the style I’m used to playing but I’m hoping it really lets me see if I can cut any corners with my mega macro.

Survival appears to be so far the hardest tree to setup a one button mash macro because of how many skills you have to press, I’d be surprised if there’s another DPS class that has to do that huge of a rotation, they really changed Hunter’s a lot. But that’s fine, I’ll figure it out. Until then if you want automation, I think the Beast Mastery macro v1.0 is pretty simple and the Marksmanship macro is pretty decent. The Survival Macro v1.0 is pretty inefficient as far as dps is concerned but you can do okay dps pressing one button at least.

More to come soon I hope before Patch 3.3 comes out.

Beast Mastery Shot Rotation and Raid Macro v1.0

Well, Beast Mastery has to be the easiest thing to automate as far as one button mashing, there’s just nothing to it. This macro works the same as the other ones, press shift + macro to refresh serpent sting. You can also add in Rapid Fire if you want into this macro. I was able to hit about 3000 DPS on the Heroic Target dummy with a Devilsaur using a 4000 Gear Score Hunter, which tells me that my Marksmanship and Survival Macros are going to need more work.

/use 13
/use 14
/cast [target=pettarget,exists] Bestial Wrath
/cast kill command
/castsequence reset=shift/target serpent sting, null
/cast steady shot

Survival Hunter Shot Rotation Macro v1.0

Well, here is what I have come up with so far for Survival Hunter Shot rotation macro.

The only testing this macro has received is on the Heroic dummy I plan on taking it out to try on some raid bosses when I get the chance but it seems to run pretty smooth.
/use 13
/use 14
/cast kill command
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Black Arrow
/cast [modifier:alt] Explosive Shot
/castsequence reset=6/Shift  Serpent Sting, Null,
/castsequence reset=6 Steady shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Explosive Shot

It’s pretty self explanatory, if you’re an Orc or you want Rapid fire you can put that in near the top too.  But what happens is it tries to fire off both trinkets and kill command then moves onto cast Serpent Sting.  Because of the Null that comes after Serpent sting it locks up the first castsequence, meaning it will not repeat and has to be reset by pressing shift, which is good because you don’t want to chain fire off Serpent Sting.  So when Serpent Sting needs refresh you simply press shift.

It continues to do the second cast sequence unless you press shift, alt, or control.  I threw in 3 steady shots before Explosive shot because it seemed to work, you can figure out how many need to go there yourself for your Hunter.

When Lock N Load procs you can press alt to fire off more explosive shots, this will by pass all cast sequences, and to refresh Black Arrow simply hit control.  If you’re not concerned with Explosive Shot you can change the Alt modifier to Kill Shot, either way you are going to have to weave one of those in manually outside of this macro for now.  It is possible to add Black Arrow to the first cast sequence and reset it with Shift.  You could make the first castsequence go something like: Serpent Sting, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Black Arrow, Null.

What I’m thinking is that you might lose out on too much Explosive Shot DPS while you’re toying with it but I’ll keep working it, for now this is Version 1.0, I’ll keep updating it as I try it out and make it more efficient.

Hunter Macro Testing in 25 Man VOA

Just used this Macro today in the 25 man Vault of Archavon to further test the automation of it.  I had some varied results,  my DPS ranged from 4300-5000 between the 3 bosses, I’m not sure how good that is with a gear score of 4009 on the Hunter in Survival but I was near the top of the charts for the most part with people who were 4500+ so it seemed pretty decent.  This macro works okay but what I don’t like is all the reactive button pressing that I try to avoid, we have to use all three modifiers for this to work.

One thing that is annoying with this Macro is if you see Black Arrow fall off the enemy and hit shift to refresh it like I for some reason keep doing, the macro will freeze until Black Arrow becomes available since it runs out well before it’s cool down.  I’m looking at making multiple castsequence macros inside of one macro right now so I’ll keep everyone updated on that.

/use 13
/use 14
/cast kill command
/castsequence reset=shift/target  Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, null
/cast [modifier:alt] Explosive Shot
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Kill Shot
/castrandom Steady Shot

Survival Hunter DPS Macro

So far I’ve come up with a partial solution to the Survival Hunter Raid DPS Macro.  The one thing I haven’t been able to test or get set in to the macro is Kill Shot which needs to get into the Hunter macro in some fashion so that we can control almost all of the DPS skills we are going to be using from one button mashing macro.

I hit 3000 DPS on a heroic dummy with gear level around 4000, but like I said, getting everything into the macro is going to be important.  Here is what I have so far:

/use 13

/use 14

/cast kill command

/castsequence reset=shift/target  Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, null

/cast [modifier:alt] Explosive Shot

/castrandom Steady Shot

/cast Kill Shot

One thing that has gotten me on this Survival Macro is that Black Arrow doens’t last near as long as it’s cooldown so if you watch for Black Arrow to fall off and press Shift too early to reset the sequence you’ll basically shut down your entire macro until it’s available :(

I’m pretty sure kill shot at the end won’t work so I’m thinking we are going to have to use another modifier like control and weave it in that way.  Even though you’d have one macro to spam, this macro would require you to respond to your environment and pay attention as you would have 3 more buttons to press on command.  We’ll see what I come up with, tomorrow I’ll get into some raids and try this out more as well as some heroic groups.

The Beast Mastery macro I’ll work on later, that one is going to be way easier than Survival.

WoW Hunter Marksmanship Raid Macro V1.0

What’s up everyone.  It’s my first day back on the Hunter in probably 6 months.  With the recent changes to /castrandom it is not possible for me to configure macros in the automated fashion that I used to, therefore, I have no choice but to look for another way.

After reading on Elitist Jerks about Hunter DPS builds and downloading the DPS sheet, I decided to try out what the theoretical top spec was to see if I could get a macro to work in any fashion.

While I think I have a good start at automating the macro, the DPS just wasn’t there and I’ll have to head back to the drawing boards to figure out what went wrong.

For now I’m scrapping Marksmanship and heading back into Survival.  I read in EJ that Arcane Shot and Aimedshot aren’t really that beneficial for non-movement fights which is what my automation macro is for which seemed to hold true on the Heroic Dummy as far as automation and macros go.  Anyways, here’s the results of my work in the lab today.  Top DPS with Wolf Pet was about 2800 DPS on Target Dummy with a Gear Score of 4009 using a 7/57/7 build.

/use 13
/use 14
/cast kill command
/castsequence reset=shift/target Serpent Sting, Null
/cast [modifier:alt] Chimera Shot
/castrandom Steady shot

At start Serpent Sting fires, then you can press alt to fire off Chimera shot, all the time Steadyshot is going off in between.  In order for this to work you must hammer down on whatever key you bind this too and be prepared to reset the castsequence by pressing shift+macro and firing Chimera shot by pressing alt+macro.  Basically what I do is spam the crap out of my bind key and hit alt or shift with my thumb on that same hand while mashing it.
